1:00 to 1:45 technical aspects of shutter/ISO/aperture
2:00 to 2:45 creativity of lighting/background/composition
3:00 to 3:30 what makes a good picture?
3:30 to 4:00 questions and hands on instruction

It’s that time of year again!  We are preparing for this year’s popular youth contest.

The contest is open to youth enrolled in grades 8 through 12 in BC, or the equivalent such as home school, for the duration of the 2015/2016 school year. The top 18 youth images are displayed in the Gallery Exhibition during the PHOTOGraphie Festival. 1st place prize – Nikon camera, valued at $1,300
Entries Accepted: May 23rd – September 23rd, 2016

FREE YOUTH PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

This free workshop is for BC students in grades 8-12. Led by world renowned and award winning photographer Nick Didlick (www.nickdidlick.com) this workshop will cover technical aspects, creativity, what makes a good photograph, and hands on instruction.
Nick Didlick’s photojournalism career includes staff positions at United Press Canada, Reuters, the Vancouver Sun, the National Post and Photo Chief for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Nick has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize twice and is currently an editorial and commercial photographer and digital photo consultant based in Vancouver.

Inaugural Launch of BC’s Only Professional Photography Festival

Presented by PPOCBC and Beau Photo, PHTOTGraphie Festival launches Sept. 26, 2014

 

Vancouver, BC…..The launch of PHOTOGraphie Festival is one week away at The Roundhouse in Yaletown! From September 26 to 29, 2014 this community event will have something for everyone and promises to inspire entertain and educate in the arena of Professional Photography. There will be plenty of free events for the public as well as tickets to purchase for Beau Photo’s Fusion Trade Show. Browse the gallery, watch an image competition judging, listen in on free micro-talks, sign up for hands on workshops geared towards amateurs, pros and videographers or peruse to hottest technology at the Fusion Trade Show.  Fine Artists Faye and Trevor Yerbury, this year’s keynote speakers, will be selling their work with partial proceeds to benefit SEVA. PHOTOGraphie Festival promises to
inspire, entertain, and educate Vancouver BC

Vancouver, BC…. From September 26 to 29, 2014 BC’s only Professional Photography Festival invites you to be inspired by diverse gallery exhibitions and learn from rich educational presentations at The Roundhouse in Yaletown. With something for everyone, this festival promises to inspire, entertain and educate about all things regarding professional photography. This community festival opens with a VIP private gallery reception and continues with free micro-talks for the public, hands on workshops for amateurs, pros and videographers and includes photos from our youth photography contest. Carol Polloni from  Beau Photo Supplies, tells us “Fusion 2014 is about looking to the future while preserving the past when it comes to the tools of the trade for professional photographers”. This year’s Fusion speaker series will present a variety of photographic talks on topics including sports, travel, fashion, fine art, and even film. There will also be an all day trade show featuring exciting new technology from big names like Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Profoto, and others. Fusion 2014 takes place on Sunday September 28th.
